As the night air turns more autumnal, and cloud vapor shrouds the sun most mornings, mystery permeates our next Vernacular:

Anna Homler, with stellar accompaniment by bassist Jeff Schwartz and tubist Mason Moy, sings in a language of her own that conveys a sense of poetic longing – missives from lost eras and locales and portals to new dimensions and possibilities. Jeff and Anna have developed a compelling musical partnership over the years; they know how to create moments that live on in the listener’s imagination forever. I’m excited to hear how Mason will add to and change the warp and weft of their improvisations.

KOVEN4TET creates music that redefines and transforms their environment, particularly when they move processionally while they play, their instruments sounding out boundaries while inviting listeners to adjust to slowly changing points of sonic origin. Comprising four highly accomplished artists and intriguing instrumentation, the balance and sensitivity of their collective creation is truly revelatory.
